There's been a lot of talk about how Alaska Governor Frank Murkowski's third place finish in the Republican primary is a dramatic reversal of fortune for someone who represented his state as a senator and governor for more than a quarter century.

But to drive home the point a little further, Murkowski received 18.9% of the vote, with a few dozen precincts still to report.

In Nevada's August 15 Republican primary for State Treasurer, Kathy Augustine took 19.7% of the vote. She had died more than a month earlier.
