I suppose it would be the bloggy thing to link to a piece I had in yesterday's Hartford Courant about the indictment of Mayor Eddie Perez, trying to put his problems in the context of other elected officials who have run into legal trouble (although I didn't even mention Brent Warr, the mayor of Gulfport, who got indicted a day after Perez).
These stories from today's Washington Post may be useful, too: State and local officials in Ohio are licking their chops at the prospects of $$ from the federal stimulus package, and there's another story about how libraries are doing brisk business during the downturn.

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
