The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports a major endorsement in the Missouri governor's race:

BRANSON, Mo. -- U.S. Sen. Christopher "Kit" Bond, R-Mo., led a drive for party unity this weekend as he endorsed U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof for governor.

Bond, a former governor, praised Hulshof, R-Columbia, as a potential governor with "a fresh, aboveboard, inclusive and hopeful perspective."

...

But it wasn't clear whether Bond and other Hulshof allies achieved their objective in the state party's two-day convention here. Although a large bloc of the gathering's roughly 1,200 delegates stood in support of Hulshof when he stepped to the podium Saturday afternoon, many also appeared receptive to his Republican rival, state Treasurer Sarah Steelman.
