Yesterday, John McCain's campaign broached the idea of a series of joint town hall meetings with Barack Obama. That's so 20th century.
The Obama campaign responded that he preferred Lincoln-Douglas debates. So 19th century.
What would be equally edifying, but reflect the milieu of the current millennium? A reality show, of course.
The show would have everything -- baby-kissing competitions, 3 A.M. wake-up calls and meetings with foreign leaders (with or without preconditions). Each week, someone would get voted out of the house, although I'm not entirely sure whether that would be a punishment or a reward.
There'd be drama. There'd be suspense. There'd be romance.
Well, maybe not romance.
GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
