Durham, N.C., Enables Text-to-911 Technology

Durham residents and visitors who are Verizon Wireless customers can send a text message to 911 for emergency help as part of a six-month trial. The Durham Emergency Communication Center is the first 911 center in North Carolina, as well as the second 911 center in the United States, to enable “text-to-911” technology.
