Police Arrest Dozens of Occupy Oakland Protesters

Oakland police arrested "dozens" of protesters at two demonstrations of the Occupy Wall Street movement Tuesday morning, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Police cracked down on Occupy Oakland protests in front of city hall and several arrests were also made at a nearby park.

The city initially allowed the demonstrations, but ordered protesters to evacuate the camps last week, citing concerns over fire hazards, sanitation, and drug use. The exact number of arrestees has not yet been confirmed.
