Ala. City Enacts Standards for New Houses as Part of Tornado Recovery Effort



The Pleasant Grove City Council adopted a set of standard features for new home construction in some tornado-hit areas. The new standards include continuous footings, solid foundations, front and rear porches or decks, driveways, walkways, and a minimum of two trees 6 to 8 feet tall on the property. Mayor Jerry Brasseale said the new rules would apply mostly to older sections of the city where homes will be rebuilt following the April 27 tornado.
