William D. Eggers is the director of public-sector research at Deloitte. He is the author or co-author of seven books, including "If We Can Put a Moon: Getting Big Things Done in Government," "The Public Innovators' Playbook," "Government 2.0" and "Governing by Network." His next book, "Revolution: How Business, Government, and Social Enterprises are Teaming up to Solve Society's Toughest Problems," will be published by Harvard Business Press in August 2013.

His writings have won numerous awards including the Louis Brownlow award for best book on public management, the Sir Antony Fisher award for best book promoting an understanding of the free economy, and the Roe Award for leadership and innovation in public-policy research. A former manager of the Texas Performance Review and director of e-Texas, he has advised governments around the world, and his commentaries have appeared in dozens of major media outlets including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Chicago Tribune.
