The proportion of gun owners who say that it is more important to curb gun violence than protect gun rights, according to the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll. The survey also found a 24 percent margin between those in favor of controlling gun violence, 59 percent, and those in favor of protecting gun rights, 35 percent, which is the largest margin in favor of controlling gun violence in a decade.
