Reports: Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels Will be Next Purdue President

The Indianapolis Star is reporting that Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels will become the next president of Purdue University, citing two sources with close ties to Daniels. Daniels will be replacing France Cordova, who is scheduled to leave the office on July 15. The governor’s second term ends in January. There was speculation that Daniels would make the short list of possible vice presidential candidates for Mitt Romney, or be asked to fill a cabinet position should Romney beat President Barack Obama in November, the Indy Star reported. Neither the governor’s office or Purdue officials would confirm Daniels as the choice, but the college’s Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday to vote on the candidate. The president-elect will be introduced by Keith Krach, the board’s chairman, after the meeting, according to the Indy Star.
