Study Ranks Best City Park Systems



Why are some city park systems better than others? It’s not just money (though it helps). Some cities spend less on parks per capita than others and have excellent parks. But factors such as purpose, access, user satisfaction, safety and assets can make the difference, according to the Trust for Public Land (TPL), which has been studying the issue for some time. Minneapolis, where 94 percent of residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park, has the U.S.' best park system, according to new rankings by a national nonprofit conservation group.
