The number of cyclists who were attacked by at least one cougar this last weekend in Fall City, Wash., in a wilderness area along Tokul Creek.

One rider, a 60-year-old female, was hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries, but is in stable condition. There have been only two fatal cougar attacks and approximately 20 other recorded encounters resulting in human injury in Washington over the past 100 years. There are an estimated 3,600 cougars in the state.
