The number of people who died last year from gun-related injuries, with more than half of those deaths being suicides.
Though only about 5 or 6 percent of people who make suicide attempts use firearms, the chance of death in a gun suicide is 90 percent. A study found that 87 percent of people who make the decision to kill themselves act on it that same day; approximately 25 percent of people act on that impulse within 5 minutes.
