The date on which Oregon’s rollback of drug decriminalization efforts will take effect. The new law, signed by Gov. Kotek on Monday, April 1, will recriminalize the possession of small amounts of drugs as a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail. The 2020 measure that made personal use possession of illicit drugs only punishable by a ticket and a maximum fine of $100 earned 58 percent of support from voters.
