Decrease in homicides across Los Angeles in the first half of this year, leaving the city on pace to end 2025 with its lowest total for that crime category in nearly 60 years, according to a police department tally. There were 116 homicides in the city through June 28, compared to 152 in the same period last year. L.A. homicides have been on a steady downward trajectory since 2021, when total killings eclipsed 400 amid the tumult of the COVID-19 pandemic.
