Number of federal government jobs shed in the Washington, D.C., region in 2025, according to new data released by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. Federal employment in D.C. has dropped by roughly 24,000 jobs since last January, while Maryland and Virginia have seen losses of about 24,900 and 23,500 positions, respectively.
