The uninsured rate for Americans under age 65 in 2024, rising from 9.5 percent the year before — the first increase since 2019. The number of uninsured people grew to 26.7 million, driven largely by declines in Medicaid coverage. The increase has disproportionately affected low-income, working families and people of color, with higher uninsured rates in states that have not expanded Medicaid.
