China's share of all global patent applications for clean energy technologies increased from around 5 percent in 2000 to around 75 percent in 2022, according to a new report from the energy thinktank Ember. This includes 90 percent of patent applications for solar and wind technology, 85 percent for energy storage, and more than 70 percent for batteries and electromobility.
