That’s the share of Americans who say they are confident their state and local governments can run fair elections this November, according to a new poll from NPR, PBS News and Marist College. The figure is down from 76 percent in October 2024, with declining confidence driven largely by Democrats and independents. The survey found majorities across all political parties still trust local election administration, but debates over voting rules, federal oversight and polling place security are fueling growing skepticism.
