The amount in federal funding poised to expand high-speed Internet access across Alaska, the largest single investment in broadband infrastructure in the state’s history. The funding is expected to bring reliable Internet to more than 46,000 homes and businesses, many in remote and rural areas, delivering speeds of at least 100 Mbps. Officials say the investment could dramatically improve access to telehealth, education, jobs and business opportunities across some of the most disconnected regions in the U.S.
