The amount Florida lawmakers allocated for a new school safety drone program in Volusia County. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and Volusia County Schools are partnering with Campus Guardian Angel, a Texas-based company whose system deploys non-lethal drones within seconds of an emergency alert. The drones can launch from on-campus storage units in as little as 15 seconds. The pilot program begins in early 2026 as officials work to integrate the technology into existing safety protocols.
