The number of workers in Los Angeles County that went on strike this week. It's more than half the number of total county employees. The work stoppage began at 7 p.m. on Monday and ran through 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The strike is affecting services across the county and prompting the closure of parks, libraries and healthcare clinics. Union leaders say workers are striking because of a long list of alleged labor violations from the county, including retaliation and contracting out work inappropriately.
