Share of Americans who say the country’s best days are already behind it, according to a new CNN poll. That’s up sharply from 41% in September 2024. The same survey found that 58% of respondents said things are going “pretty” or “very” badly in the United States today, while 42% said things are going “pretty” or “very” well. Both parties remain unpopular, with 52% holding unfavorable views of Democrats and 51% saying the same about Republicans.
