The share of Minnesota voters who would prefer Democratic Gov. Tim Walz not run again, compared to 45 percent who would support his bid for a third term next year. The Minnesota Poll found that Walz’s support has strengthened within the Twin Cities area but weakened throughout the rest of the state. Governors who seek national office often end up less popular at home. “He makes a fool of himself trying to get on the national scene like he’s a big shot,” said Gary Bettcher, a Republican voter from Bloomington.
