The number of states where poverty dropped last year, according to the Census Bureau.However, since mid-2024, enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has increased in 18 states and the District of Columbia. Nationally, SNAP participation was essentially flat, down by 11,000 people compared with the previous year.
