The approximate amount of land taken from the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska more than 50 years ago by the federal government for a recreation project that was never built that will now be returned to the tribe under legislation backed by the congressional delegations of Nebraska and Iowa.
The land, part of the reservation created for the tribe in northeastern Nebraska by a treaty in 1865, now lies in Iowa because of a westward shift in the course of the Missouri River.
