The size of the pay raise for Washington legislators approved by a commission. The raise, which is spread out over two years, will take effect in July unless blocked by a citizen referendum. Under Washington’s system, legislators cannot amend proposals from the independent commission. Its new recommendation also includes a 14 percent boost for the governor and attorney general and 7 percent for judges.
