It's now clear that unless the constitution is amended, the Legislature is free to ignore any laws on the books.

Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca in response to the state Supreme Court's conclusion that the committee of lawmakers that passed the controversial collective bargaining law was not subject to the state's open meetings law. The law can now take effect once it's scheduled for publication in the official state newspaper.
