The number of California vanity license plates with an image of the Golden Gate Bridge sold within a one-year span. The fees from the plates would have helped fund open spaces in the Bay area, but 7,500 people would have had to buy plates in order for the state to produce them. The deadline to buy these plates has been extended until next summer.
