The number of cities in Vermont that now allow noncitizens who are legal residents to vote in local elections after the Legislature overrode the governor’s veto of the Burlington charter change bill this week. Vermont’s largest city joins Montpelier and Winooski which both already allow such voting. There are more than a dozen communities across the nation that allow noncitizen voting in local elections.
