The water system break occurred just as the city was experiencing extremely hot and humid conditions. City officials distributed drinking water while they waited for the services to be restored. The city’s water system was back online by 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, but city officials expected the “recharging” process could take up to 12 to 14 hours.
