Rich Harwood is founder and president of the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation, a national nonprofit organization based in Bethesda, Md. The institute teaches and coaches people and organizations to solve pressing problems and change how communities work together. In 2013, Harwood facilitated Newtown, Conn.'s decision on the fate of Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 26 children and adults were killed in December 2012.
A frequent puplic speaker, he also is a prolific author of articles, guides and books, including The Work of Hope: How Individuals and Organizations Can Authentically Do Good. Harwood has appeared on national media including MSNBC, NPR, CNN and Fox News as well as internationally on German Public Radio, China Central TV and Voice of Russia Radio.
