Lisa Heuvel is manager of program development initiatives for Colonial Williamsburg's Institute for Teacher Professional Development, overseeing its year-round professional development programs for on-site, outreach and online delivery as well as the development of supporting curricular resources. Heuvel has worked for Colonial Williamsburg since 2005, formerly managing educational media development.
An adjunct assistant professor in leadership studies at Christopher Newport University, Heuvel holds three degrees from the College of William and Mary: a B.A. in theater and speech, an M.A. in American studies and an Ed.D. in higher education administration.
At William and Mary, Heuvel teaches public history and civics-education courses for the Christopher Wren Association for Lifelong Learning. She has taught on the William and Mary School of Education adjunct faculty, co-authoring "The College of William and Mary in the Civil War" (2013) as well as numerous magazine, newspaper and journal articles on Virginia history.
