Adam Hinds

Contributor

Adam Hinds, a Democrat, is a Massachusetts state senator representing 52 communities across four counties in the western part of the state. Previously he worked for the United Nations for 10 years focused on negotiation and conflict analysis in the Middle East. In March 2018, he gave a TEDx talk on how to move past political divisions.

Hinds is the founding director of the Pittsfield Community Connection, a program designed to proactively engage at-risk youth in that city, and is a former executive director of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition, which works to engage and empower residents to respond to local challenges. He serves on the board of directors of the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps and is a Truman National Security Fellow. He attended Wesleyan University and then studied international law and negotiation at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

We need to value problem solving over partisanship. There are lessons to be learned from international negotiations.
