In an interview on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, Gov. Rick Perry acknowledged that his failed 2012 bid for president was a "botched" attempt, but said, "I think America is a place that believes in second chances."

Toward the end of the nine-minute interview, Perry said finishing out his last term as Texas governor is his top priority, but said he would be touring red states and blue states in the coming months to lay out his blueprint for job creation and present a GOP strategy to win back the White House.

Asked whether there was room for more than one Republican from Texas to run for president — in light of speculation that U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, will also run — Perry said, "It's a big state."
