The chart below shows education attainment for more than 500 metro and micropolitan statistical areas.
Figures shown represent the portion of the population 25 years and older holding high school diplomas, bachelor's degrees or higher and graduate degrees. Please note that some metro areas have high margins of error.
Across the country, educational attainment gradually climbed in recent years. In particular, the Census Bureau reported a sharp increase in those earning master’s and doctorate degrees over the past decade.
Data was obtained from one-year estimates compiled for the U.S. Census Bureau's 2011 American Community Survey.
