The decline in patients who crossed state lines for abortions during the first half of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024, according to a new report by the Guttmacher Institute. It’s the first drop in out-of-state clinic visits since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Researchers note, however, that the figure doesn’t account for the growing number of patients obtaining abortion-inducing medication through telehealth, which continues to expand access even in states with restrictions.
