That’s the new wholesale tax on marijuana in Michigan, signed into law Tuesday by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as part of a budget deal to boost road funding. The law immediately drew a lawsuit from the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association, which argues the tax illegally amends the 2018 voter-approved marijuana legalization initiative without the required supermajority vote in the Legislature. The tax takes effect Jan. 1, 2026.
