While still far above the 60-day goal set by lawmakers, the turnaround marks major progress from a backlog that once stretched beyond 450 days. The delays were worsened by misconduct from a former analyst who manipulated DNA results, and officials are now outsourcing cases and adding resources in hopes of cutting wait times to 90 days.
