The state GOP brought in more than $500,000 from out-of-state donors in late September, the height of speculation about the governor's presidential plans. The contributions were part of $1.5 million that Republicans raised between July 1 and Sept. 30, the Post reports.
Christie announced on Oct. 4 that he wouldn't seek the Republican nomination, but sources close to the New Jersey GOP told the news agency that he and other party leaders have made gaining seats in the state legislature a top priority for the November elections.
