Mass. Bill Would Restrict Body Piercings For Minors

The Massachusetts legislature is considering a bill that would restrict body piercings for minors.

New Massachusetts legislation would prevent the state's minors from receiving body piercings without written permission from a parent or guardian, who would also have to accompany them to the appointment, the Associated Press reports.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, Massachusetts is one of 18 states without a law that restricts body piercings for minors. Regulations for piercings are currently handled on a local level in the state, according to the news agency.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Bruce Ayers, will go before the legislature Public Health Committee on Tuesday, the AP reports.
