The Sherwood City Council unanimously passed an ordinance banning the dispensaries for 150 days.
Community Development Director Julia Hajduk said the city proposed the ordinance “just to give us time…to evaluate where these facilities should best be sited zoning-wise, and whether there should be any additional regulations.”
If you’ve been following this issue in Washington County, this should sound like a familiar story. Hillsboro and Tigard already have passed similar ordinances, and Tualatin is expected to follow suit next week.
The ordinances are part of an ongoing debate about whether individual cities even have the right to ban medical marijuana dispensaries now that the state has legalized them.
