Medina, 48, is being accused of eight misdemeanor charges for the unauthorized practice of law, officials told the Journal. Last year, four complaints that Medina allegedly presented himself as a lawyer and received payments for services that were never given led the Rhode Island Supreme Court to recommend his prosecution.
Medina, a Democrat who represents Providence, is already facing felony charges related to his alleged theft of $28,000 from a friend's daughter's life-insurance policy, according to the Journal.
