California Gov. Gavin Newsom tweeted on Sunday after President Trump tweeted threats to stop giving federal disaster assistance funds to California as wildfires ravage the state. Federal aid is vital for many California communities that cannot afford to pay for the control or damage. A Cal Fire spokesman on Monday had not heard “any official word that the state is losing aid,” despite Trump’s claims. (KPBS — November 4, 2019)
