Greg Fischer

Greg Fischer is in his second term as mayor of Louisville, Ky. He was honored in 2013 as a Governing Public Official of the Year and by the Kentucky League of Cities as that year's top large-city mayor.

A businessman and entrepreneur who has launched several companies, Fischer has focused on economic development and bringing a data-driven, performance-focused approach to city government. He contributed a chapter to What It's Worth: Strengthening the Financial Future of Families, Communities and the Nation, which was published in late 2015 by the Corporation for Enterprise Development and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

Fischer is a trustee for the U.S. Conference of Mayors and is chair of its Council on Metro Economies and the New American City, which addresses economic problems facing the nation’s cities and their citizens.

The steps Louisville is taking to financially empower its public employees and its citizens point the way.
