Cheryl A. Camillo is a 2015-2016 Fulbright Fellow to Canada and a former deputy Maryland state Medicaid director. She has over 20 years of experience working with public-assistance programs, including Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, child support, foster care and adoption assistance.

Camillo received her master's degree in public administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and her bachelor's degree in political science from Yale University.

We could do a lot to change the widespread perception that programs that help needy people are about winners and losers.
