Ariel Nelson


Ariel Nelson is a staff attorney at the National Consumer Law Center, focusing on criminal justice debt and credit and background check reporting issues. She is a co-author of the June 2020 study "Commercialized (In)Justice Litigation Guide: Applying Consumer Laws to Commercial Bail, Prison Retail, and Private Debt Collection" and a contributor to NCLC's Fair Credit Reporting and Collection Actions publications.

Previously, Nelson litigated administrative and environmental law cases as a staff attorney/clinical teaching fellow at Georgetown University Law Center. She also served as a law clerk to two federal judges. She holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and a law degree from Harvard University.
