Patrice Frey

Contributor

Patrice Frey is president and CEO of Main Street America, where she oversees the organization's work offering technical assistance, research, advocacy, and education and training opportunities for its network of approximately 1,800 members. Before joining the center in 2013, Frey served as the director of sustainability at the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Previously, she worked for several years in the field of community development and urban research.

Frey earned her master's degree in preservation planning and certificate in real-estate design and development from the University of Pennsylvania. She received her bachelor's degree in politics and international relations from Scripps College.

It may be tempting, in coping with revenue losses brought on by the pandemic, for governments to reduce funding for community economic-development organizations, but it would be short-sighted.
