Dayne Walling

Dayne Walling is mayor of Flint, Mich. He was an aide to Washington, D.C., Mayor Anthony Williams for two years and also worked for U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee of Michigan. Walling has served as a policy advocate for the Urban Coalition of Minnesota and as a senior research fellow at the Genesee County Land Bank, and was the founder of the Flint Club, a nonprofit community organization.

A native of Flint, Walling was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, received a master's degree in urban affairs from the University of London, and has pursued doctoral studies in geography at the University of Minnesota.

When people leave a struggling city for its suburbs, they leave behind the costs of public services that were delivered in the past. Regional solutions are needed.
