New Arizona Governor Asks Religious Groups to Help with Child Safety Efforts

Gov. Doug Ducey says abortion opponents need to get involved with the have 16,900 children that wards of the state.

Gov. Doug Ducey urged the “faith-based community” and abortion foes to step up to help the state deal with the thousands of children now in state care.

 

“I am proudly pro-life” the governor told a rally of the anti-abortion Center for Arizona Policy. “And I look forward to working with you on those issues.”

“We have 16,900 children that are now outside of the womb and are wards of the state,” he went on to say, calling on the organization, and the faith-based community “to re-engage in this issue of child safety, whether it’s foster parents, whether it’s adoption, whether it’s as a court-appointed special advocate.”

“These are the most vulnerable in our society and they are in many situations not being cared for properly.”

CAP President Cathi Herrod conceded her organization has been only “somewhat” involved with issues of child safety and foster care.
